Solving the problem of Trust
"The Problem of Trust" describes a social and security issue that can delay adoption of business to business Federated Identity systems. The problem of trust occurs in this context when one business doubts the legitimacy of the assertion it has received - perhaps an attacker is wielding this assertion? The Problem of Trust can be transferred to the contracts and agreements that underlie the RedPhone Security transaction method. Using RedPhone Security methods, only a contract signer can wield privileges granted by that contract. If the assertion's signature authenticates its signer, and if the assertion's signer has previously signed a contract that grants the requested privilege, then the problem of trust is transferred onto the contract.
